About Nateshvari

Nateshvari is a wing of Shaktiyogashrama Gurukul, a unique multi-dimensional educational cultural complex in the making, founded by SWAMI SHRI HARISH MADHUKAR, a rare spiritual giant  who lived the life of a recluse in the jungles of the Sahyadri without a care or want. Till one fine day moved by the sorry state of education and cultural awareness amongst people in general and youth and children in particular, he returned to society to work towards its betterment .With the passion of a man possessed , he moved the project and in the matter of a year and a half, Shaktiyogashrama, as it stands today, with all its 30 acres of land, 10 cottages and an open air auditorium materialized .His mortal remains passed away in October 1996 , but his spirit and vision remain guiding a closed ring of disciples.

His vision of living and learning  emphasised  the basic values of  cultural rootedness, holistic living and  the practice of a spiritual discipline  so as to be able to live in full awareness at all times. All arts and sciences , he believed are to sensitise one and to heighten Awareness .Their teaching must be from this angle and their learning must liberate the student from  all inhibitions and bestow a vision of Truth.

The school for children and the  seven proposed gurukuls pertaining to the classical arts of  dance, music, architecture, sculpture and painting and the classical sciences of yoga, ayurveda and jyotishi shastra , at Shaktiyogashrama all share this approach to living and learning  with an inward look  .

At present we hold week-end camps for adults and children , designed to ‘BEGIN THE JOURNEY WITHIN ‘, to regain lost perspectives through modules on yoga , meditation and understanding of the classical arts and sciences .

We help to keep traditions of performing arts alive through our folkarts festival on Sharadpoornima ( in October) and classical arts festival on Shivaratri( February - March).
